This blog is for everyone working to retain funding for Illinois library systems. It’s a place where we can share ideas.
At the Indian Prairie Library in Darien IL, we started handing out postcards addressed to the governor with the message:
Please retain funding for library systems in the FY2011 budget.
Please release the funds that the state owes Illinois library systems for FY2010.
Our patrons are signing the postcards, we’re collecting them and mailing them to the governor’s office.
Several library directors in the area have indicated that they’re interested in supplying these postcards to their patrons. I’ve attached a PDF of the file to this posting – feel free to copy it and use it!
We also created a bookmark explaining what the library system funding crisis means to the patron. A PDF of that is attached, too. Please feel free to copy it, adapt it, use it.
Please add what you’re doing in your library. And, by the way, we’ve collected nearly 1,000 postcards in a week…
